Will the Compact System Camera replace DSLR camera?

In modern times all are simple unlike in the past particularly if talking about digital SLR camera. Many years ago a common digital SLR camera had limited functionality so the photographer had to choose a camera according to their need. The popular DSLR camera many years ago such as a 35mm within Nikon F5 or Canon EOS 50 offer versatility and portability, the Bronica SQ or mamiya 645 offer best image quality and the expensive DSLR camera Leica M6 offer both best quality images and portability. The common characteristic of first DSLR camera is heavy and bulky with complicated design, reflex mirror and optical viewfinder. But Panasonic Lumix GX1 is an evidence of the advancing technology, as the first new type DSLR camera with G-Micro system that is different than its predecessors and named with “Compact System Camera”. The Panasonic GX1 is an evolution of first DSLR camera in to four third sensor and lens mount format. The presence of GX1 enough help the photographer who wants versatility, interchangeable lens to produce high quality image but in smaller and lighter product, sure GX1 sold fast in market. Panasonic didn’t miss the best opportunity GX1 by producing lenses and accessories, perhaps 2008 is the best selling year for Panasonic.

After many years there are come again the new type of mirrorless compact system camera which most of it have mid range, semi pro model or entry level. But it doesn’t seem will replace DSLR camera completely. Current year 3 different DSLR camera hit the market again with different characteristic and functionality, these are Canon 5D Mark III, Nikon D800 and Pentax 645D as medium format camera, certainly brings a different price also. Then how about Compact system camera price? with all the usefulness sure go for the same level price with DSLR camera. But the fact now, although Compact system camera grow well in market but it can not replace DSLR camera, why? this is the biggest questions compact system camera vs DSLR camera. The short reason is DSLR camera never out of date, we can explore with several lenses or other accessories to maximize the functionality, so professional photographer prefer to choose DSLR camera. But we always wishes whatever the developing of technology will bring the best for photography in globe.
